The 2023 Gruner is our first wine with this variety. The fruit comes from one of our neighbours and was hand-picked in excellent condition. The grapes were gently whole-bunch pressed and fermented in tank to reveal the intriguing fruit character of GV. This is a wine for throwing on the table with flavourful food - we have found it a good match for washed rind cheese, charcuterie of all sorts, even chicken and pork. It holds its’ own in most company. A bit funky, it has ripe fruit character yet a significant savoury edge. May throw a harmless, natural crystal tartrate deposit.
